Eyelash Extensions Trend or Trash

Beauty trends come and go in the blink of an eye. But it looks as though the eyelash extensions trend, including LVL and extensions are here to stay!

But Why are they so Popular?
In the hustle and bustle of today’s busy lives, time is a valuable comodoty that we can’t afford to waste. So, it’s no wonder that women (and some fabulous men) are looking for ways to reduce the time spent getting ready. Treatments such as semi-permanent makeup, long-lasting hair treatments i.e. chemical straightening and now lash extensions are becoming more popular. It makes perfect sense to spend an hour or two in the salon, once a month, if it means skipping the hour it takes each morning to apply makeup.

We are also much more aware of our appearance and the pressure to look good is at an all time high (thanks to social media.) Companies are using glamourous TV reality stars as advertising, bombarding us with images of how we ‘should’ look. You only have to look at the social media following of the cast members from shows like love island to see just how much of an impact these people have. We’re constantly being told that these people are the pinnacle of beauty and so we should do what they do. So we invest in the hair extensions, lip fillers, eyelashes etc to mimic their look. Critics may hate but we all keep buying into it!

Will the Eyelash Extension Trend Die Out?
Personally, we can’t see the eyelash extensions trend disappearing anytime soon. In fact the number of lash techs popping up all over the country is growing at an incredible rate. More and more salons and beauticians are seeing the demand for such services and are therefore adding lash services to their treatment lists. We think they’re here to stay because:

They save time each morning. Once you’ve got used to sleeping in, you won’t want to start setting the alarm earlier again.
They aren’t expensive or dangerous and application is an enjoyable experience.
They are great for people who can’t wear makeup, such as healthcare workers, sports women and those with sensitivities to make-up.
They’re addictive! Once you’ve had them you won’t like how bare your eyes look without extensions (everyone says they feel naked without them.)
People with busy lifestyles and hectic work schedules can get on with their work day, without having to stop, check and re-apply their makeup due to smudging or smearing.
We’re all a little vain. Yes we said it… don’t hate because we’re guilty too! We all want to look and feel great, so why would we stop having something done that makes us look amazing and feel confident.

Of course trends change and we’re sure that the eyelash extensions trend will too. Previously everyone wanted USA Volume but lots of lash technicians are seeing clients switch to a more spiky, Hybrid style. This mapping style is often referred to, as ‘the Kardashian’ design. We look forward to seeing what will be the next hot trend in lashes.
