know that Instagram filter that gives you full, feathery lashes with the press of a button? When we spotted Mj Rodriguez on the 2019 Emmys purple carpet, we were pretty sure someone had figured out how to use one of them in real life. The Pose star’s frill of lush, thick fringe was that convincing. But then we heard from Rodriguez’s makeup artist Adam Breuchaud that he’d used the Lashify Extreme collection on the actor, and it all started to make sense.
After all, we’ve already had our own love story with Lashify over here at the Allure offices, so we might have guessed that the famous falsies were in play here. Instead of coming in strip or individual formats, which can be equally tough to wrangle in their own different ways, Lashify’s lashes come in delicate little clusters called “gossamers” that you apply under your natural lash line instead of over. They come in four different lengths just millimeters apart, and five different styles: A, B, C, D, E, and F, which build in intensity from A, which stands for “amplify” and pumps up what you’re already working with, all the way up to F for “fluffy” and the red carpet-worthy E for “extreme,” which is what Rodriguez is working with tonight.
The beauty of the Lashify gossamers is you can apply them in any combination to build drama, volume, thickness, you name it — and that’s exactly what Breuchaud pulled off for Rodriguez’s Emmys look, built around her stunning, hot pink Jason Wu gown. “The lashes and the lip were the heroes of this look,” he shared. “We played off the bright fuchsia of Mj’s dress with the lip, but we still wanted a little drama with the eye, and playing up the lashes did that in a beautiful way.”
